Andrea Ray

Andrea was introduced to yoga as a teenager in Slovakia and really enjoyed the nurturing atmosphere of yoga classes and the physical challenge of the Asanas. When she moved to London in her early twenties she discovered the Iyengar Yoga Institute in Maida Vale with daily classes and regular workshops with visiting teachers.
In 2008, she completed her Introductory Teacher Training in Iyengar Yoga and started to teach various classes in London. She continued to train and attained Level 3 Iyengar Yoga Teaching Certificate Level in the next few years. Daily practice and a full schedule of classes helped her to deepen her understanding of yoga even further.
She visited India on 3 occasions to study with Rajiv and Swati Chanchani in the foothills of the Himalayas, near Dehradun. In 2010 she also studied at the RIMYI (Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute) in Pune founded by BKS Iyengar. It felt important for her to experience the source of the teachings firsthand.
Andrea enjoys teaching students new to yoga and seeing the positive changes it brings. She’s also inspired to work with experienced students on a much more subtle level to help them find the teacher within themselves. Dealing with her own obstacles on the path has made her more perceptive and compassionate.
Yoga offers endless variety of approaches and she focuses on using the appropriate tools according to the needs of students, and the cycle of nature.
