Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a complete system of natural medicine based on the principle that ‘like cures like’. It works on the premise that the body has an innate ability to heal itself. For example, if we have a cold we get over it, or if we cut our finger it heals itself.

However, in certain situations such healing does not happen. This can occur for a variety of reasons. The result is that our health gets worse and we potentially get stuck in a persistent ‘diseased’ state.

When this happens our bodies need a little help to get better, and homeopathic remedies can assist the body’s natural tendency to heal itself.

The right homeopathic remedy will stimulate the body to rebalance itself into a state of health and well-being. The approach is holistic as it influences emotional, mental and physical healing. This takes place from within and works with the body rather than against it.

There are over 3000 remedies available. They are made from natural substances such as plants, minerals and other natural sources. The remedies come in different ‘potencies’ which represent the number of dilutions.

The remedies are non-toxic and safe for babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, and the elderly. Homeopathic remedies can, and at times should be, used alongside other treatments or medication. This makes homeopathy a ‘complementary’ treatment rather than ‘alternative’ medicine.

Homeopathy can be used for acute and chronic complaints.
