Alex Turner Lic Ac, BSc (Hons)
Alex has been practicing complementary health since 1990. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Acupuncture from the University of Kingston where he studied for 3 and half years at the prestigious College of Integrated Chinese Medicine.
His style of acupuncture integrates Traditional Chinese Medicine and Five Element acupuncture. He also uses techniques such as moxibustion, cupping, guasha and acupressure.
Alex is also a Shiatsu practitioner and registered teacher with the Shiatsu Society UK. He was Course Director and a tutor at the Devon School of Shiatsu for many years before moving to Bristol.
He is part of the Core Therapy Team at the Penny Brohn Cancer Care Centre where he teaches Qi Gong, relaxation techniques and also facilitates residential courses on the ‘Whole Person Approach’ to health and well-being.
The Whole Person Approach is at the heart of Alex’s acupuncture practice and aims to unlock the underlying patterns that cause symptoms to arise. As a result, clients often report that in addition to addressing their main complaint, they also feel increased energy levels and a sense of feeling better in themselves.
Using very fine, single use, stainless steel needles, acupuncture points are stimulated to improve and regulate the body’s healing response. Evidenced based research has shown that acupuncture is beneficial for a wide variety of conditions.
Your first session is a 90 minute consultation and treatment followed by series of one hour treatments. Although results are often felt after the first treatment, a course of six to 10 weekly treatments is generally recommended for lasting improvements. Acupuncture can safely be used alongside conventional medicine.
